Sorry to play devil's advocate but what is the point of preserving today's resources if the future generations are not prepared (or able) to take care of them? I mean, so many kids are studying subjects they will never use in their lives while they do not even learn how to act as responsible citizen and consumers.
It's never too late to be a responsible tourist but let's also consider that it is never too early either.
I have been recently informed about a very nice initiative aimed at educating kids in primary and secondary schools about responsible tourism, in the Municipality of Trieste, Italy. Funded by the Department for Education and Culture, this pilot project was suggested by Dr. Stefano De Franceschi, a professional journalist and travel videoreporter. It has been implemented in collaboration with the ICEI, Institute for International Economic Cooperation of Milan, Professor Antonella Farina, head of the provincial project Born to Read and Dr. Carmela Apuzzo, head of the Children's Public Library Quarantotti Gambini.
If you want to kow more about the project, its content and methodology, please contact:

I am sure there are many more similar projects in the world and I would love to post some info about them. Especially if they are implemented in developing countries where inbound and outbound tourism is growing rapidly.
