Professor Geoffrey Lipman is one of the world's leading thinkers in sustainable tourism. He is currently Director of greenearth.travel and MD of "beyond tourism"; He is Advisor to the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO); Advisor to the World Economic Forum and Vice Chair of its Global Agenda Council (Aviation, Travel & Tourism); Adjunct Professor at Victoria University Australia; and Senior Tourism Research Fellow at George Washington University USA. He is a Board Member of STDI and Dragon Trail, as well as the Live The Deal campaign and a Principal at Schuman Associates.
Professor Lipman will present his insights on Travelism, which he defines as the incredible power of the immense travel and tourism value chain to be a positive green growth change agent. Professor Lipman will also deliver his perspective on sustainability as a global movement from his unique position as advisor to peak international government and business organisations.
International Update on Sustainability Certification for the Travel & Tourism Industry by Erika Harms and Amos Bien
Erika Harms is the Executive Director of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and Senior Advisor on Tourism at the United Nations Foundation (UNF). Erika will focus on the important role that the UNF plays in bringing consensus on what defines sustainability certification across the variety of global regions and industry sectors.
Amos Bien is Technical Director of the Global Tourism Sustainability Council (GSTC). Amos will explain the central role of the GSTC in creating an international organization that provides a structure for the travel and tourism industry, and travel consumers, to understand the significant contribution of sustainability certification.
Industry Leadership in Sustainability by Ewald K. Biemans
