The 4th EU-Africa Summit took place in Brussels on 2-3 April under the theme "Investing in People, Prosperity and Peace". Building on the spirit of their 2007 Joint Strategy, Africa and the European Union discussed as equal partners on how to deepen cooperation under these three areas. The forum brought together more than 60 EU and African leaders, and a total of 90 delegations. In the summit declaration, leaders highlighted the close nature of EU-Africa relations and the shared values of democracy, respect for human rights, the rule of law and good governance as well as the right to development.
